I don’t know where to start. I am not by nature a
nervous person. In this class, however, I am a wreck. I don’t know where to
start with putting it all together. I have all the pieces. I spoke to my
director about the presentation. She said she would help me come up with some
more people to invite. So far I am inviting my director, assistant director,
operations manager. I will invite one teacher and one aide. I am attempting to
contact someone from the IU4 as they will be the best resource to get the word
out.
What
do I do if people don’t show up?
Where
can I go for more resources?
Where
can I get help with my PowerPoint?
Would
anyone in the class like to look at it for me?
I
did find a couple of great resources. Education.com has a great article called Take Charge! Self-Advocacy in the Classroom.
The link to this article is http://www.education.com/magazine/article/charge-advocacy-classroom/.
It
is an article about teaching children to be their own advocate.
Another great website
is KidsHealth.org. It contains some great factsheets. The link to this website

Sometimes we get like that. There are many times when I have ideas in my head, but I can't seem to put it all together. Stop and take a deep breath. When you do not stress yourself out, you are able to move. First start with gathering information and putting into some presentation form you are doing. After that, you could decorate it to match the personality of the audience. Set up a meeting space. You could also make a short survey, so next time you will know what to expect and what you should change. Good luck. If you every need help, Microsoft Office have plenty of instructional videos.
ReplyDeleteTry not to be so nervous. It sounds like you are doing a great job of getting the important people involved. I wouldn't worry about people not showing up, it sounds like you have a lot of support. If you do not get the crowd you are hoping for, cast your net a little further and ask some parents of students if they would be interested in attending your next presentation.
ReplyDeleteI think being nervous means that somewhere along our journey we are moving to accomplishing our goal. Whenever I would give a presentation I would take a deep breath, pray, and think about a difficult moment in my life I overcame. Every time I think about the moment, I know that I can accomplish anything I put my mind too. So I am her encourage to you and inform you that you already have done a tremendous job. You got this!
